Through material and photographic experiments, this device is a response to the classical movement ‘Asturias’, by spanish composer Isaac Albeniz. Whilst playing the piece, this device creates a performance combining printer toner and water droplets.

Exploiting its magnetic properties, a thin layer of toner is held onto a cone shaped ramp. As water droplets land on the cone, they create small toner-coated beads.

A vacuum holds a body of water behind a mesh membrane. A small speaker cone seals the vacuum, allowing air to leak in as it vibrates, gradually releasing small droplets of water.
