Muscle Models

Anatomical models demonstrating the structure of a muscle, the composition and mechanics of a muscle cell and how it interacts with neurons. For use in outreach and educational activities, these models help the MyoChip Project at the Insituto de Medicina Molecular, and the Roman Group at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute, present and communicate their research related to muscle cells.
3D printed via FDM and SLA processes, painted and finished by hand, with integrated electronics for lighting effects and a mechanical Sarcomeres model that demonstrates the contraction mechanism of the muscle cell.
A collaboration with Marta Macedo (3D modelling) and Evangelos Agas (finishing and painting).
